On February 21st, 2023, ATTIA shared its concerns with the New South Wales Independent Planning Commission (IPC), regarding a proposal which would further limit short-term rentals in tourism hotspot Byron Bay.
The planning proposal would halve the existing short-term rentals cap to 90-days a year in most parts of the area. We highlighted that this would severely harm the local tourism economy, without addressing the region’s dire need for new affordable housing.
