On 16 April 2026, ATTIA Managing Director Mark Chan spoke at the Short-Term Rental Accommodation (STRA) Forum and Expo 2026 at Hextar World Exhibition Hall, Empire City, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia’s first industry event dedicated to the sector.
On the opening panel, alongside representatives of PLANMalaysia and the Malaysian Vacation Rental Services Management Association, Mark highlighted how traveller demand is changing:
- More travellers are choosing secondary and alternative destinations beyond the major cities
- Longer stays in local neighbourhoods have been a growing trend for years
- Domestic travellers make up the bulk of demand for rural, non-urban destinations
